Few hours after thinking Joe didn't have a ticket to Morocco, I'm finally on my way to Morocco and I couldn't be more excited! I must admit though, I do have a small pit in my stomach because I am nervous too. I just don't know what to expect, what the people will be like, what the town will be like. I've done countless research on Morocco and some websites made me feel like I should fear total harassment from men, while other websites told me it's understandable that we are tourist. Either way, I'm eager to land and start this adventure!! The views from the plane are incredible, it's a perfectly clear day and you can see as far as the eye can see. The mountains in Northern Morocco are beautiful from birds eye view! It's beginning to get flatter, I wonder if in the distance I'll be able to spot the desert. It's very interesting, how the towns are laid out. It'll be a small cluster in one area and then wait while for another small cluster. There are t many rivers or water sources, I wonder where they get their water and if the tap water is drinkable. I'm currently wearing a flannel so I'm sure I'm going to stick out like a sore thumb at the airport but hey, atleast it covers my shoulders! One of my main excitements about going to Morocco is that I get to share this experience with Joe! They always say the best travel accessory is someone you love and I can be certain to agree to that. I'll see you soon Morocco!!

Hello Africa!!

Landed in Morocco! Getting through customs was the absolute worst, 2+ hour wait. Our poor taxi driver was waiting outside the whole time for us. After finally getting out, we hopped in the cab and headed to the hostel. While driving, our first reaction was what the hell did we get ourselves into? Some parts of Marrakech don't look too appealing, especially at night. We were walked to the door of our hostel and were greeted with the utmost kindness. tea and popcorn as they told us about Marrakech and that we were family to them. We put our stuff on our beds and quickly ventured out for the night! We mainly explored the food market, which was delicious. We sat down at an outdoor restaurant tent and had traditional food such as couscous and kebab skewers. We can never have enough food though so we went off looking for desert. Of course it wasn't hard to find, but it was odd. We went for the chocolate. It looked like a mix between cake and ice cream.. Weird, I know. But it tasted just like grainy and powdery chocolate. It was just odd. After a few hours out wandering and eating, we walked our friend back to the hostel.

Snails!

Once she went to bed, Joe and I headed back out. It was crazy how upbeat and alive the market was for being close to midnight. There were people playing drums and dancing and singing. I can't imagine how crazy these people would be with any liquor in them haha. Joe and I went to one of the 42 juice stands and indulged in fresh squeezed orange juice for only $4... Aka 40 cents!! It was delicious!! The most refreshing and amazing orange juice I have ever tasted!! This definitely won't be our only time visiting. Before heading back we decided to sit down for some snails. It was.. An interesting choice.. They were still in the shell and were cooked In a very strange strange broth.. I personally didn't like them, but not because the texture or anything, just the taste of the broth. I'd be open to try them again if cooked a different way. Joe wasn't a fan of them either. Midnight came and we went back to the hostel before the streets got too dark and sketchy. It was heartbreaking walking by all these mothers holding children on the streets because they had no home. Along with the countless number of stray cats begging for food. I'm excited to see the city tomorrow and spend the day soaking up the sun while walking around! I'm definitely so happy to be here! Also, I didn't get yelled at as much as I thought, or really at all. Just yelled at to go into stores. I was definitely over thinking the idea of guys just whistling and saying stuff.
